Truth or Tamanna?’ follows the love story of Dhruv (Priyanshu Jora), a documentary filmmaker, and Tamanna (Vrushika Mehta), a professional dancer. Everything is fine until one day, Tamanna suddenly disappears. The whole story revolves around Dhruv investigating the matter seeking an answer. Directed by Pushkar Mahabal (known for directing the TV show, ‘Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji), this 13-part series is high on drama. It begins with glimpses of romance between Dhruv and Tamanna, but the plot swiftly shifts from a love story to an engrossing thriller. As the story begins, Tamanna goes missing and everyone receives a message claiming; she is getting married and moving to London. Dhruv finds it suspicious and starts digging out the truth. He goes undercover to Tamanna’s workplace, the Kaizad Dance Academy, to gain insight into her life. Dhruv stumbles across a web of deceit and crime with the help of his friend, Jackie (Manasi Rachh).The writers (Manoj Tripathi and Niraj Vikram) have created a multi-layered narrative that keeps the viewers anxious about Tamanna’s whereabouts and why she’s gone? Additionally, the story is laced with enough twists and turns to make every character a suspect. The show starts at a slow pace, but quickly picks up and keeps you involved, especially in the last few episodes. Having said that, Debashis Das’ editing maintains the plot’s credibility, but there is enough room for this series to be cut down.Since this drama revolves around dance, the choreography by Sneha Kapoor (a trained Salsa dancer who is also known for choreographing many dance reality TV shows) deserves special attention. The dances are decent, especially the ones performed in the final episode which might give viewers the impression that they are watching the climax of a Bollywood film. These performances are complemented by Meghdeep Bose’s music, who has composed and produced music for many popular Hindi films and web shows like ‘Saina’, ‘Four More Shots Please Season 2’, and others.
