Queenmaker (Korean: 퀸메이커) is a 2023 South Korean streaming television series directed by Oh Jin-seok and starring Kim Hee-ae, Moon So-ri, and Ryu Soo-young. It was released on Netflix on April 14, 2023.[3][4]Hwang Do-hee (Kim Hee-ae), was a genius of image-making who controlled the strategic planning office of a conglomerate. Hwang Do-Hee (Kim Hee-Ae) works as a general manager for a strategic planning team at Eunsung Group. She is good at dealing with public opinion. She takes care of disturbing cases for the company and she is highly trusted by her employers.One day, she joins Oh Kyung-Sook’s (Moon So-Ri) campaign to become the mayor of Seoul. Oh Kyung-Sook is a human rights lawyer, who often went up against Eunsung Group. She decided to run for mayor with the goal of fighting for the weak.During the election, Oh Kyung-Sook and Hwang Do-Hee often butt heads with differing opinions, but they strive for the same end goal. That is to make Oh Kyung-Sook the mayor of Seoul.Queenmaker saw the maker and breaker of politicians’ careers, Hwang Do-hee (Kim Hee-ae), team up with labour-rights lawyer Oh Seung-sook (Moon So-ri) to help Sook rise to political power as the next mayor of Seoul.The lawyer sought to take down her former employer after her unfair dismissal and things spiralled out of control.Secrets came to the surface, personal lives went up in flames but after all has settled, will there still be strong candidates ready to battle it out again in another season?Queenmaker has only just made its way to the streaming site so we suspect that it’s season two fate will rest heavily on how well it has been received.However, if the show is fortunate enough to be picked up for a second season it will still be a pretty long wait.Filming for the political K-drama began in early December 2021 and was wrapped by late June 2022 yet it still took until April 2023 for it to be released.
