1992: Sitaram, an irrigation engineer, and his wife Kaveri are assigned to the Chambal region, where they witness the exploitation of villagers by the Thakur brothers, led by Balwant Singh Thakur. 1996: Krishnamurthy, a philanthropist in the Araku Valley, lives peacefully with his granddaughter Vaishnavi.
