Bachelor is a 2021 India Tamil-language romantic thriller film written and directed by debutant Sathish Selvakumar. Produced by G.Dillibabu under the banner of Axess Film Factory, the film stars G. V. Prakash Kumar and Divyabharathi (In her Tamil debut). [3] On 13 September 2019, first look of the film along with cast line up was revealed.[4] Filming was wrapped up in October 2020.[5] Though teaser was released on 13 February 2021, but anticipated release was delayed due to COVID-19 aftermath.Darling (GV Prakash Kumar), the protagonist of Bachelor, is the kind of guy who doesn’t care what others think of him. He is an aimless youngster from Coimbatore, working in an IT firm in Bangalore, staying with his friends, who also hail from his native. He is in that phase in which he is enjoying the freedom of living by himself, free from the restrictions that living with one’s family brings. Like the roosters in the mansion which he shares with his friends, he struts around with hardly a care. The only two things on his mind seem to be getting a bottle to drink and snagging a girl to snog.
And when he meets Subbu (Divyabharathi), a friend of a friend who is working in his office and happens to be single, all he sees is a prospective girlfriend. He worms his way into sharing her flat, and starts stalking her. She seems wise to his ways, but one thing leads to another, and soon, they are in a live-in relationship. Their raging hormones ensure that everything feels hunky-dory (this is not a romantic film!), until… Subbu becomes pregnant. She wants to keep the baby, and he, obviously, doesn’t! He, in fact, is insistent that she aborts the baby. Where does this cold splash of reality take them next?With a tone that could best be described as Arjun Reddy-meets-Angamaly Diaries, Sathish Selvakumar’s Bachelor is an often fascinating, indulgent peek into the life of a deeply flawed character. His Darling is a character new to our cinema.. a self-centred, carefree young man with hardly any redeeming qualities.
