The concept of an underdog team putting in sweat, blood and tears and taking on formidable opponents to walk away with the trophy is familiar but minus the painful cliches here. The focus is entirely on cricket, with a well-balanced portrayal of their personal struggles and interpersonal relations, blended perfectly into the narrative and playing an important role. Chaitanya Kumbhakonum’s direction and treatment will keep you hooked, as he has skillfully created the world of local cricket. The show, especially the cricket matches, are created realistically.
All the performances in the show deserve a special mention. Shivank as the selfish and unscrupulous player and person, Nikku, stands out with his performance. Despite his flaws, not once will the audience hate him. Badri Chavan as the polite, good-natured and even gullible Aussie, is the most likeable character. His friendship with Nikku and budding cricketer Sanjay are delightful. Karishma Singh, the only female in the team, Gargi, holds her ground, and her body language and mannerisms of a cricketer are on point.
