Rabindranath never came here to eat is a web series based on the novel of the same name written by Bangladeshi writer Mohammad Nazim Uddin . The series was releasedon 13 August 2021 on the Bengali OTT platform Haichai based in West Bengal, India. [2] [3] The series, co-produced by Sri Venkatesh Films [4] and TVwala Media, is directed by Indian director Srijit Mukherjee . Thisthe second full-length web series directed by Srijit Mukherjee and his first work in hue and cry. [5] Bangladesh in the beginning – Shooting is scheduled to take place in both the countries with more than one [7] Indian actor, but due to the Corona epidemic , the shooting was done only in India . In 2015, the book “Rabindranath never came here to eat” written by Bangladeshi writer Mohammad Nazim Uddin was published by Batighar Prakashani of Bangladesh . The Indian version of the book was later published by Abhiyan Publishers of India . After its publication, the book received a wide response in both Bengalis . When the Kolkata -based TV media expressed interest in producing the web series, they reached an agreement with the author in February 2019. Through this, the media with TV bought the audio-visual rights of the novel. [13]

But then West Bengal director Srijit Mukherjee told the author that he was interested in creating a web series based on the novel. However, due to an earlier agreement with TVwala Media, it was decided to make the series under the direction of Srijit Mukherjee in TVwala Productions . [14] However, due to the Corona epidemic , it was not possible to build the series with Bangladeshi artisans as per the previous decision. So later it was decided to make the series with the help of Indian artisans in a joint production of Sri Venkatesh Films [4] and TVwala Media.
