‘Girls Hostel ‘ explores the everyday lives of the Dental College Students — Richa (Ahsaas Channa), a fresher from Nagpur who is making every attempt to fulfill her parent’s desire by becoming a doctor. Another fresher and Richa’s room partner Milli (Simran Natekar) hails from a wealthy family and loves hostel gossips and enjoys watching catfights. Their seniors—the hostel don, Jo (Srishti Srivastava), who lives life by her rules and college queen Zahira (Parul Gulati), who thinks she is above all. Helmed by Chaitanya Kumbhakonum, this five-part series is quite relatable as it shows glimpses of the college days. With a duration of 20-25 minutes per episode, ‘Girls Hostel’ has all the elements— from a fun night with friends to college rivalry—to make it an interesting watch. Writers (Ashish Manchanda, Shreyasi Sharma) have penned a simple narrative that revolves around these girls coming together and sharing valuable life experiences while dealing with their own personal issues; right from overbearing parents to eccentric warden (played by Trupti Khamkar). What works in favour is, nothing is forced and the screenplay is portrayed in a very natural way that brings out the hostel life reality into the reel life.Ahsaas Channa is quite promising as Richa.

She is also the narrator of the series who is still trying to figure out what is right for her. Her roomie Simran Natekar as a sweet and happy-go-lucky kind of girl Mili, is adorable. Srishti Srivastava is quite apt in terms of her looks and dialogue delivery as a tomboy, Jo. Parul Gulati slips perfectly into the character of the quintessential haughty, Zahira. Their warden, Trupti Khamkar’s tone might irritate some viewers but she is one of the funniest characters and a delight to watch. Shreya Mehta as MBBS student Ramya Mantri is the key character to push the ongoing rivalry between the medical and the dental students.
