The sexual relationship between a successful woman and her brother, an introvert, hypochondriacal youth, who is also a pornophile.With their parents now dead, a brother (Lorenzo Lena) and sister (Monica Guerritore) are stuck together in their dusty Venetian apartment, forced to get to know each other. He’s sickly and spends all of his time watching porn while she runs around with local fashion sophisticates. The settings tend to be almost bare and dark with small pools of light from the windows, diffused by curtains, or mechanically controlled. Other characters are just types, like the mannequins that the photographer captures.

Emilio wears the signs of his ailments like lingerie, something reflected in the medical fetish porn he seems to enjoy. Although his name may be Emilio, his philosophy teacher (Gianfranco Manfredi) admits he’s barely Rousseau, so the chances of a redemption of his student’s sickness is slim. That leaves the teacher in no shape to meaningfully enlighten the kid, so he carries books around and complains. The teacher is an awkward intellectual and the sister and brother happily play sex games to degrade him in public, usually around Italian monuments to rub in the absurdity of the country’s modernity. Patrizia admits to the professor that she always wanted an older brother rather than a younger one. A younger brother forces her to be a teacher, something she primarily does by abstracting her sexual history through the way she stylizes her body.
