At first glance, Naduvan feels like a family drama involving an illicit relationship. Bharath plays Karthik, who runs a tea factory, who has very little time for his wife Madhu (Aparna Vinod), immersing himself into his work. He employs Guru (Aruvi Bala), a relative, at work and also makes him stay in his outhouse. Guru ends up witnessing Madhu’s affair with Shiva (Gokul Anand), Karthik’s friend and partner. Will Guru tell Karthik about this affair? Will Shiva manage to get Guru out of the way before that? These are the questions that drive the first half of the film. We expect edge-of-the-seat moments from this explosive scenario, especially with the opening scenes involving a murder and Karthik announcing that he is planning to kill someone, but what we get are rather tame scenes that feel repetitive.Naduvan 2021 Full Movie Download
Director Sharran Kumar wants us to take this material seriously and tries to break the events into chapters and gives voice-overs about how there is a face behind every mask and a story behind each face, to make us believe there is more to the film that meets the eye. But unfortunately, such a gimmick only smacks of pretentiousness given how uninvolving the scenes are. The film actually has to become a completely different genre film to keep us engaged. We get a sub-plot involving Guru and his friends at the factory, which suddenly becomes the main plot. And we are dropped in a home invasion thriller territory with Karthik being portrayed as a victim betrayed by all those he considered near and dear.Thankfully, the film begins to feel interesting once it becomes a this kind of a thriller. However, you keep wishing that the director had spent more time establishing the failed relationship between Karthik and Madhu and his equation with Guru to make us feel the emotional sucker punch that the character would be feeling in such a scenario. The performances, too, aren’t strong enough to make us care about these characters. Only Gokul Anand seems to be having fun playing the wayward Shiva.
