Fear Street Part Two: 1978 is a 2021 American slasher film and a sequel to Fear Street Part One: 1994. It is directed by Leigh Janiak,^[2] who co-wrote the script with, Zak Olkewikz, from an original story by the pair and Phil Graziadei, all based on the book series of the same name by R. L. Stine. The plot follows a group of teenagers in Camp Nightwing who must come together to survive against a masked serial killer.Fear Street Part Two: 1978.

Produced by Chernin Entertainment, a film adaptation of Fear Street began development at 20th Century Studios in 2015, with Janiak hired in 2017. Filming for the trilogy took place back-to-back from March to September 2019 in Georgia, with the intention of a theatrical release in June 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney, Chernin Entertainment ended their distribution deal with 20th Century Studios and sold distribution rights to Netflix in August 2020.

The film was released by Netflix on July 9, 2021. The final film of the Fear Street Trilogy is scheduled to be released on July 16.In 1978, Camp Nightwing is divided by the campers and counselors who hail from the prosperous town of Sunnyvale and the campers and maintenance staffers from the downtrodden town of Shadyside, but when horrors from their towns’ shared history come alive, they must band together to solve a terrifying mystery before it is too late.On October 9, 2015, TheWrap reported a film based on Stine’s Fear Street series was being developed by 20th Century Studios (then known as 20th Century Fox before its acquisition by Disney) and Chernin Entertainment.^[4] On February 13, 2017, The Tracking Board reported that Kyle Killen would write the script for the film.^[5] Janiak would direct the film, rewriting the script with her partner Phil Graziadei.^[6][7] The film would be the first to be released as part of a trilogy of films set in different time periods, shot back-to-back, the intention of releasing the films one month apart.^[6]

In March 2019, filming began on the first film in Atlanta and East Point, Georgia.^[8][9]Production also took place at Hard Labor Creek State Park in Rutledge in August 2019.^[10] Filming wrapped in September 2019.^[11] In April 2019, Gillian Jacobs, Sadie Sink, Emily Rudd and McCabe Slye joined the cast
