StoryLine:

Right from its opening scene, in which a man is murdered by a ghost, Cinderella sticks close to the horror movie formula. A character (here, it is Raai Laxmi as Akira, a sound designer) is arrested as a suspect, but she claims she is innocent. She has come to a hill station to record the sounds of a few rare birds for a Hollywood project. She finds a Cinderella costume in an antique shop and brings it home and has paranormal experiences. If it had been released some 10 years ago, Cinderella might have come across as mildly engaging. But given that we have had 789 horror films and horror comedies over the past decade, the film hardly comes across as a fresh attempt. There is a flashback that slightly plays around with the Cinderella story… a maid who is harassed by her employers discovering the angel within her after buying a costly gown. A rich, young man (read a prince) falling for her. Raai Laxmi’s earnest performance in these portions somewhat carry the film, but Cinderella is otherwise filled with predictable plotting. This flashback segment is the strong point of the film, but we also get a tasteless comedy scene featuring Robo Shankar who tries to make us find lines like Priyanka Chopra..
