StoryLine:

In the fictitious Upper Bavarian town of Grubberg, the unpopular and grumpy lifeguard Karl Kruse has to save the aging outdoor pool from impending closure. Because for the mayor it is clear: too old, too expensive and altogether no longer sustainable. And builder Albert Dengler would like to demolish it directly and prefer to build expensive apartments. Things are looking anything but good for Karl, who has not only been working in “his” outdoor pool for over 30 years, but also lives in a company apartment. To make matters worse, he also gets the NigerianRefugee Sali, who cannot swim at all, assigned as an assistant. As an outsider, Karl has neither friends nor allies in the village. On the contrary.
