Surjo Mondal and Swapan Sarkar, two mafia lords, have been warring over the control of a small village somewhere along the border of India and Bangladesh, for 18 long years. Everything is going just as planned with cars flying and men dying at regular interval. But then, Surjo’s best henchman, Bishu, falls in love. It’s a signature Rohit Shetty film, but for the fact that it’s not Rohit Shetty’s. It’s hard, however, to tell the difference. There’s violence, and truckloads of it at that. There are long queues of cars whose perfect synchronization gives us the impression that there must be a choreography class going on for four-wheelers somewhere. There’s the big-hearted hero, who kills even before the orders are out of his master’s mouth. And there’s the pretty heroine, who, predictably enough, tries to wean the hero away from this life of violence. Oh, and how can we forget the hyena-esque laughter, an attempt at comedy and garbled tearful howls, aimed at tragic interludes.
